Japanese art on canvas

Japanese ukiyo-e prints have clean lines, flat areas of colour and bold compositions — which is why they still look modern today and suit minimalist, Japandi and Scandinavian interiors so well.

The category includes woodblock prints by Katsushika Hokusai (including The Great Wave off Kanagawa) and Utagawa Hiroshige, as well as the irises painted by Ogata Kōrin, from open-access museum collections. Narrow landscape or portrait formats look especially good in hallways and above beds.
